Maarten Inghels (b. 1988) is a multidisciplinary artist, poet and writer. His work consists of books, videos, actions and installations in the public space.


His latest novel The miracle of Belgium (2021) about his experiences with the biggest con man in the world, uses docufiction to explore the tin border between fiction and reality.

His book Contact connects poetry, visual work and actions made while he was the official City Poet of Antwerp from 2016 to 2018. He was a guest at various literature festivals and his poetry has been translated into numerous languages and published by various international anthologies and magazines.

He coördinated The Lonely Funeral in Belgium, a social and literary project which provides poets to speak at funerals of those without relatives and friends to attend. An eponymous anthology was published in Dutch (De Bezige Bij), German (Edition Korrespondenzen) and English (Arc Publications).
