Wolvis + Maarten Inghels
Wolvis ontwierp samen met beeldend kunstenaar en schrijver Maarten Inghels vier magische sjaals!
Maarten Inghels verwerkte toverspreuken uit middeleeuwse grimoires in prachtige olieverftekeningen op ware grootte van sjaals. Een grimoire is een middeleeuws boek met diverse recepten om vieze kwalen te genezen, demonen op te roepen en vervloekingen te verwijderen.
“Het is altijd al een verlangen van mij geweest om te kunnen verdwijnen. Tot mijn vreugde ontdekte ik in De sleutel van Salomo een manier om onzichtbaar te worden. Als je een bepaalde spreuk in de huid van een kikker krast, in de maand januari in het uur van Saturnus, dan zou je kunnen verdwijnen. Misschien volstaat een wolvissjaal ook.”

Wolvis + Maarten Inghels
Visual artist and writer Maarten Inghels and wolvis designed four magical scarves together, inspired by ancient spells and incantations.
Maarten incorporated spells from medieval grimoires into oil paint drawings, which in turn were translated into scarves. A grimoire is a medieval book with various recipes to heal nasty ailments, summon demons, and remove curses.
“It has always been a desire of mine to be able to disappear. To my delight, I discovered a way to become invisible in The Key of Solomon. According to the book, you can become invisible by scratching a specific incantation into the skin of a self-killed frog, particularly in the month of January during the hour of Saturn. Perhaps a merino wool scarf from Wolvis might suffice as well.”

Then we looked for yarns and knitting techniques to turn the drawings into scarves, in which the power of the spells is preserved.”
